Hane goshi (跳ね腰 : はねごし) is a throw in judo.[1] It is one of the original 40 throws of Judo as developed by Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the third group, Sankyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza), of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is classified as a hip technique, Koshi-Waza.
Concept
Hane Goshi involves using the hip and leg to lift and throw the opponent in a springing motion. The tori (the person executing the throw) uses their leg to block and lift the uke (the person being thrown) while turning their body to complete the throw.
Technique
- Grip: The tori grips the uke's sleeve and collar.
- Positioning: The tori steps to the side, pulling the uke forward and off-balance.
- Blocking and Lifting: The tori extends their leg across the uke's thigh while lifting with the hip.
- Throwing: The tori pivots, using the leg and hip to lift and throw the uke.
Key Points
- Break the uke's balance forward or to the right front corner.
- Position the blocking leg correctly.
- Coordinate the lifting and pivoting motion with the pulling action.
