Ko Uchi Gaeshi (小内返し) is a counter-throw technique in judo. It is classified as a hand technique (Te-waza) and is part of the Shinmeisho No Waza (newly accepted techniques) list by the Kodokan.
Execution
Ko Uchi Gaeshi is performed as a counter to the opponent's Ko Uchi Gari (small inner reap). When the opponent attempts a Ko Uchi Gari, the defender (Tori) evades the attack by shifting their weight and avoiding the reap. Tori then uses the momentum of the opponent (Uke) to execute a counter-throw by twisting their hands and redirecting Uke's balance, throwing them to the left or right.
