Competency and Demonstration

In most, if not all, of the testing criteria students (and parents) will see things documented like this: 

• "Having shown a competency in..." or "Having shown expertise in..." 

Versus: 

• Demonstrate X techniques... 

Increased competency or expertise is what we look for every class, it's the growth we hope to see throughout a Judoka's training. Demonstration is what we will be looking to see on Test Day.

TLDR

Competency == What we are looking for in class
Demonstrate == What we are looking for on evaluation day
