Exam Process

Senior/Adult Judo

Exams are held every three months, March, June, September and December.
Traditionally, the exams are performed during the 3rd week of the month, but accommodations can be made if needed.
Students will need to select a training partner to work with for their demonstration. This person cannot be a Black Belt, unless the test is for a black belt rank.
Ranks are separated into the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert classifications. More information can be found here: Rank

Students will need to select a training partner to work with to demonstrate their kata. When possible, they should not use the same partner for every test.
Due to our current schedule, we cannot dedicate a full youth class to kata practice, but students may be able to work on their kata on the side during class.
The Friday Fundamentals class (7:00–8:00 PM) and the Sunday Open Mat (6:30–7:30 PM) are also available for kata practice.
Kata practice requires coordination between the student and their training partner—this collaboration is part of the process. Think of it like a group project in school; some work will need to be done outside regular class time.
