Kibisu Gaeshi (踵返) is a judo technique classified under Nage-Waza (throwing techniques) and specifically categorized as a Te-Waza (hand technique). It is also known as the "One-hand Reversal" or "Ankle Pick."
Technique Description
Kibisu Gaeshi involves the tori (the person executing the technique) reaching down towards the uke's (the person receiving the technique) leg and picking the heel of the same side foot as the tori's chosen hand. This action causes the uke to lose balance and fall backward.
The technique is typically executed when the uke is stepping backward, making it difficult for the uke to defend against the throw. The tori lowers their body and grabs the uke's heel from the inside or outside with one hand, sweeping the uke down in a split second.
